Lowrance Iway 250c
I've been using a Lowrance iWay 500c for a couple years now; I really like this GPS. My biggest complaint has been the outdated maps.
I checked on the Lowrance site and found that updates for the 500c/600c are now handled through a company called 'Pana-Pacific' (I've never heard of them) Seems this company sells lots of farkles for BIG trucks.
Anywho, I got the part number for the update: PACCARQ110 and headed over to my local Kenworth Truck dealer (there's one about a mile from my work!) Had the parts guy look it up and lo-and-behold it's available. Ordered one and it came in yesterday. About $80.
I still have to install the update (that will take 4-EVER) but it's nice to know that a bit more life has been added to this unit.
I'll update this thread after the install/upgrade is done to note any issues I may have.
FYI: I've been contacted by several people (they have joined this forum just to PM me) hoping that I could supply them with a copy of this disk. Unfortunately the answer is NO. This is copy-written/licensed software that I WILL NOT copy/sell. I understand your frustration with the lack of support that Lowrance/Pana-Pacific/PACCAR gives these fine units, but I work in IT and understand fully the ramifications of software piracy.
If I find any additional source(s) for the update, I'll post the info here. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I just picked up a nice used Iway 500c GPS. It has old maps on it and I was wondering if anyone here might have some software of a new map. The one that's on there looks to be from Q3 04. I have already downloaded the updates from Lowrance and now just need some updated maps. This unit does not have a card so it all has to go on the hard drive.
Any help?
Thanks

BTW,I have been reading these threads for a while now and I must say that I have learned quite a bit here.

- Unfortunately, the only place you can get map updates from is Lowrance.
- Well I was hoping that someone would see this post and they might have a copy of a newer map that they would sell or let me borrow to put on mine. I looked at the Lowrance web site and I can't even figure out what map goes on the 500c since they have replaced it with the 600c. I can tell you that I really don't care for their confusing web site.

PS,will the map cd from an Iway 250c work on the 500c? - I did order a new map for my Iway 500C on July 3rd. I have heard nothing from this co.,not even an email reply to 3 emails I have sent them. When you call the 800 # for customer support is goes to a buysy signal,no matter what time of day it is.I have tried the number at all hrs. of their normal business hrs. with only getting a busy signal. They did charge my credit card but never even sent me an email to verify the purchase.
Question: Is this normal for Lowrance/LEI. I did order from LEI.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

BTW,I live about 100 miles from the Lowrance Co. so it shouldn't take long for shipping. I would not recommend trying to deal with this co. since they don't seem to care about their customers. Next time I will buy another brand. - That is the first complaint I've heard that I can remember, although I don't know a ton of people who have placed orders with them. I'd call Lowrance directly since Lowrance links off to them for the map update.
- I have already called Lowrance direct and after navigating their maze of recorded options I found myself talking with a real live person only to refer me to LEI. They said that they don't deal with the after market aspect and LEI would be able to help me.
The problem is,you can not get through to LEI via phone or email. They will be more than happy to bill your credit card though. I don't know what the problem with LEI is but they are in need of some real help. If I ran my business like they do I would be losing customers left & right. I mean this is the worst customer service that I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. There's no close 2nd either. Hands down the worst. So buyer beware if anyone is thinking about buying one of their products.

PS. I was thinking about buying another gps from Lowrance to put on my Victory Kingpin Motorcycle because I don't want to spend the $500.00-750.00 for the zumo.Well I opted for the Magellan 2200t since it is waterproof and have heard fairly decent things about it for motorcycle use. Long battery life ect. Now I read that the Magellan customer service is not very good but at least they will answer the phone. Any thoughts on the 2200t for motorcycle use Tim? - I've added this to our homepage. Maybe we can get someone's attention.
I'm not a motorcycle operator myself so I don't know just how much the motorcycle specific features make a difference for people. (Bigger glove friendly buttons, bigger buttons in the interface, more durable plastics, vibration resistance, etc.)
Another concern is that the 2200T isn't waterproof.
I thought it was like IPX4 water proof. I understand that it can't be submerged in water but I don't plan on doing that. The water I would be getting would be minimal, dew ect. I really don't care too much about the big buttons and such since I would be setting the thing up while sitting still. I have a hard enough time setting the gps in the car while moving so I sure wouldn't want to do it on the bike. I also heard/read somewhere that the 2200t was a fairly rugged gps.I've added this to our homepage. Maybe we can get someone's attention.
Thanks for your help Tim. I bet that they have someone that monitors this site. No co. likes bad pub. so I bet this will get them going,I hope.

I will try it and if doesn't fit my needs I will move it on to one the the other vehicles and let one of my employees enjoy it. I just can't see spending big money on a zumo for no more than it would be used. I do like the zumo 550 and will be watching for prices to come down a bit.
Thanks again
rtillis- It is IPX-4, which is basically 'water resistant'.
- Well guess what came in the mail today Tim ? Yep,the dvd update came via Fed Ex overnight delivery.
Thanks for the help.
rtillis - Interesting. But still no luck with regular means of contact?

No,never did receive a reply to my emails.
BTW,they sent me Q3 06 , do you know if that is the latest update?
rtillis - Depends how you look at it.. That could be the most recent version LEI has made available to their customers, however it isn't the most recent version the mapping company (NAVTEQ) would have made available to LEI for purchase. The most recent version NAVTEQ would have made available to LIE would be either Q1 2007 or perhaps Q2 2007.

That's what I figured. Q3 06 is already 1 year old. Prob. not much different from Q2 07 but one would think that since their web site states that the new dvd is scheduled for May 07 release it would be a newer version than Q3 06. The problem is,how do you find out? They don't answer the phones or respond to emails. For some reason I get the feeling that they may not have the newest version yet and just sent me what they had in stock that they couldn't sell. Maybe they already sold their allotment of the newest version since their web site stated to get on the list for their May 07 release. Surely they have had Q3 06 way before May of 07.Who knows, but I don't trust LEI.
